Happy Fourth of July

Yesterday was my two month sober mark. Today was my first sober Fourth of July since I was pregnant with my middle child 11 years ago. Spent the weekend at the beach and it was a gorgeous beach weekend here in New England. Let more people in on my not drinking anymore. Didn't have any cravings except one wistful moment for a margarita at a BBQ we attended that I easily brushed away. (Antabuse makes any such craving futile anyway.) Feel great; feel happy; feel strong in sobriety right now.

Congratulations Red on 2 months. I am proud of you and happy for you too that you feel so free from all of it.

Somedays are better than others, but everyday sober for me is worth it :)

Congrats on the milestone. What's an antabuse?

Two months - right on! I had cravings for months after I sobered up but I'm glad I stuck with it and didn't pick up. I wouldn't trade my sobriety for anything today, not even for a drink!
Have a good one day at a time.

Excellent. For every day that goes by, you prove just a little more to yourself THAT YOU CAN DO THIS!

RHG - Congratulations! I'm very happy for you.

Edgar - antabuse is a drug given to alcoholics that produces adverse effects such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness, flushing, and tachycardia if alcohol is consumed.

Two months is a milestone!
Don't allow alcohol be an option any more! After 18 years I still get cravings, but I don't let alcohol be an option!

Congratulations! Two months is a biggie. AA puts so much emphasis on 30 days and 90 days, the achievement of 60 days often seems forgotten. My (most recent) 60-day mark is still close enough for me to remember that the terrified deer-in-the-headlights feeling was worse than the kid-with-a-new-toy feeling of 30 days and the look-at-me-I'm-an-oldtimer swagger of 90 days. :)

I'm happy to report it gets easier (most days, at least!) I'm coming up on 180 days, and it's a holy-mackerel-I-just-had-90 feeling.

You're doing great -- happy to have you trudging the road with me!
